Occupation Actress. Currently stars as Bo, the lead character on Lost Girl, airing Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Showcase.
What’s your secret food vice? Non-dairy ice cream.
What is your biggest food challenge? Going to people’s houses for dinner or travelling. I’m gluten free and recently became completely vegan, so I can be a difficult dinner guest.
What keeps you eating a balanced diet? My health. If I eat well then I have energy all day, even when I am working. The hours on set can be challenging.
Any allergies or dislikes? I have an allergy to gluten – so I avoid that. Even though I know it’s healthy and I do eat it, broccoli is not my favourite veggie.
What must you always have in your fridge? I always have fruit, veggies, brown rice – I usually pre-make it and store it in the fridge for the week – almond milk for cereal and definitely coconut water.
What are some of your go-to meals? I love brown rice or quinoa with chickpeas and veggies. My favourite snack is a green apple with natural peanut or almond butter. Also, I love a good chop salad with different veggies, beans and pumpkin seeds.
What is your favourite meal to make for guests in your home? Gluten-free pasta with homemade fresh pesto sauce, salad and some wine – you can’t go wrong there.
What is your most used ingredient and why? I love turmeric. It adds great flavour to vegetarian dishes and is really tasty.
What is your favourite city to eat out in? Why? I like eating out in L.A. because they have a lot of vegan places. I also love Toronto and New York because there is so much variety.
What’s next for you? Now that season two of Lost Girl has wrapped, I’ll probably be visiting some family, then heading back to L.A. I never really know what is next – I am really learning to enjoy being exactly where I am.
